“We have always sung for our own enjoyment”

Bob And Margaret - Final - low res

Bob with his wife (and musical director) Margaret.

A quote from founder member Bob Gabe (after all it is “BOB’S Barbershop Boys”)

Bob has always been interested in Barbershop singing but it wasn’t until November 2009 that he started to make things happen.

He asked 7 fellow singers from the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir to take part in a “one off” barbershop performance.

This performance was a big hit and “The Boys” have been singing together ever since, led by their musical director, Margaret Gabe (Bob’s Wife) who has been taking the group from strength to strength.

There are now 13 members in the group.

Most of their songs come from the pre World War 2 era, but they’ve recently added modern songs.

Bob’s Barbershop Boys (BBB) have performed at The Palace Theatre, Chalkwell Park and a variety of other venues around Southend and Leigh On Sea.

The future looks bright for Bob’s Barbershop Boys as they continue to sing for their own enjoyment and that of others.
